It reflects the texture of a working ritual repertoire in which a household priest needed verses for every possible occasion. The Hebrew Psalter, which holds Psalms 137 (curse the daughter of Babylon) and Psalm 23 (the Lord is my shepherd) within a few pages of each other, runs on the same principle.
