Hymns LXVII through LXX are short long-life charms, several only a few lines each. The brevity is itself worth noting: the late Atharvan hymns include many very short ritual sentences alongside the great philosophical hymns, and the editorial decision to keep them is part of what makes the Atharvaveda's character distinctive. The Rig-Veda contains almost nothing this short; the Atharvan tradition was willing to preserve a much wider range of ritual material, including very brief individual-occasion verses.
