The Greek translation of the Hebrew Bible, made in Alexandria between the 3rd and 1st centuries BCE. The version of scripture quoted by Jesus and the New Testament writers, and still canonical in Eastern Orthodox Christianity. Includes the deuterocanonical books (Tobit, Judith, Wisdom, Sirach, Maccabees, etc.) and longer forms of Esther and Daniel.
