Surah an-Nasr is widely held to be the last complete surah revealed, after the conquest of Mecca in 8 AH (629/630 CE). Several Sahih hadith report that when the surah came down, the Prophet's companions rejoiced — the conquest had been won, people were entering Islam in tribes — but that 'Umar and Ibn 'Abbas wept, understanding it as the Prophet's farewell. The surah does not say goodbye explicitly. It says: when the victory comes and the people pour in, then turn to praise and seek forgiveness.
