1. Acceptance of Terms

By downloading, installing, or using the Gnosis app, or by accessing getgnosis.app, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

2. Description of Service

Gnosis is a digital reading application that provides access to a curated library of public domain spiritual, philosophical, and mystical texts. The Service also includes an AI-powered reading companion ("Sophia"), semantic search, guided commentary, and audio narrations. Gnosis is distributed on iOS via the Apple App Store and on Android via the Google Play Store.

3. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years of age to use the Service. By using the Service, you represent that you meet this requirement.

4. License and Use

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for your personal, non-commercial use, subject to these Terms.

You may not:

• Copy, modify, or distribute the app or its proprietary components
• Reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the app
• Use the Service for any unlawful purpose
• Attempt to interfere with or disrupt the Service or its servers
• Use automated systems (bots, scrapers) to access the Service
• Resell, sublicense, or commercially exploit the Service

5. Text Content

The texts available in Gnosis are sourced from public domain works and permissively licensed translations. While we take care to provide accurate and well-formatted texts, we do not guarantee that the texts are free from errors, omissions, or formatting artifacts.

The texts are provided for personal reading and study. We do not claim copyright over public domain source texts. Our curated formatting, organization, chapter structures, commentary, and metadata are proprietary.

6. AI Features

Sophia, the AI reading guide, is provided for informational and educational purposes. Sophia's responses are generated by artificial intelligence and may contain inaccuracies, misinterpretations, or errors.

Sophia's responses do not constitute professional advice of any kind — including but not limited to religious, spiritual, psychological, medical, or legal advice. You should not rely on Sophia as a substitute for professional guidance.

We reserve the right to modify, limit, or discontinue AI features at any time.

7. Subscriptions, Free Trial, and Auto-Renewal

Gnosis is offered on an auto-renewing subscription basis. A subscription is required to access the full library, the AI guide (Sophia), commentary mode, semantic search, and audio narrations.

Free trial. A free trial may be offered when you first subscribe. If offered, the trial begins when you start your subscription. At the end of the free trial, your subscription will automatically convert to a paid subscription at the then-current price unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends.

Auto-renewal. Paid subscriptions automatically renew at the end of each subscription period at the then-current price, unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the current period ends. Your payment method on file with Apple or Google will be charged at the start of each new period. Uninstalling the app does not cancel your subscription.

Pricing and duration. Current pricing, subscription durations (such as monthly or annual), and any introductory or promotional offers are shown on the paywall screen in the app and in the Apple App Store or Google Play listing. Prices may vary by region and currency.

Managing or canceling. You can manage or cancel your subscription at any time through your Apple ID account settings (iOS) or your Google Play account settings (Android). Spirit Buddy LLC cannot cancel subscriptions on your behalf.

Refunds. Refund requests for App Store and Google Play purchases are handled by Apple or Google according to their respective policies. Spirit Buddy LLC does not process refunds directly.

Price changes. We may change subscription prices from time to time. Any price change will be communicated in accordance with Apple and Google requirements, and you will have the opportunity to cancel before the new price takes effect.

Restore purchases. You can restore a valid subscription on a new device using the "Restore Purchases" option in the app, provided you are signed in with the same Apple ID or Google account used for the original purchase.

8. User Data and Privacy

Your use of the Service is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference.

Since Gnosis does not require user accounts, all personal data (bookmarks, notes, reading progress) is stored locally on your device. You are responsible for backing up your own device data.

9. Intellectual Property

The Gnosis app, including its design, user interface, graphics, logos, code, AI prompts, curated text formatting, commentary, and all other proprietary elements, is owned by Spirit Buddy LLC and protected by applicable intellectual property laws.

The "Gnosis" name and associated branding are the property of Spirit Buddy LLC.

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

The Service is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including but not limited to implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components. We do not warrant the accuracy, completeness, or usefulness of any content provided through the Service, including AI-generated content.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, Spirit Buddy LLC shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits or revenues, whether incurred directly or indirectly, or any loss of data, use, goodwill, or other intangible losses resulting from:

• Your use of or inability to use the Service
• Any content obtained from the Service, including AI-generated content
• Unauthorized access to or alteration of your device data
• Any other matter relating to the Service

In no event shall our total liability exceed the amount you paid us in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, or fifty dollars ($50), whichever is greater.

12. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Spirit Buddy LLC, its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of or relating to your use of the Service or violation of these Terms.

13. Termination

We may terminate or suspend your access to the Service at any time, without prior notice, for any reason. Upon termination, your license to use the Service is immediately revoked. Since all your data is stored locally on your device, no data will be deleted from our servers upon termination.

14. Platform-Specific Provisions

Apple App Store. The following terms apply if you obtained Gnosis through the Apple App Store:

• This Agreement is between you and Spirit Buddy LLC only, and not with Apple Inc. ("Apple"). Spirit Buddy LLC, not Apple, is solely responsible for the Service and its content.
• Apple has no obligation whatsoever to furnish any maintenance or support services with respect to the Service.
• In the event of any failure of the Service to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price for the Service to you (if applicable). To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple will have no other warranty obligation whatsoever with respect to the Service.
• Spirit Buddy LLC, not Apple, is responsible for addressing any claims relating to the Service, including (but not limited to): product liability claims; any claim that the Service fails to conform to any applicable legal or regulatory requirement; claims arising under consumer protection, privacy, or similar legislation; and intellectual property infringement claims.
• You represent and warrant that (i) you are not located in a country that is subject to a U.S. Government embargo, or that has been designated by the U.S. Government as a "terrorist supporting" country; and (ii) you are not listed on any U.S. Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
• Apple and Apple's subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms, and upon your acceptance of these Terms, Apple will have the right (and will be deemed to have accepted the right) to enforce these Terms against you as a third-party beneficiary.

Google Play. The following terms apply if you obtained Gnosis through the Google Play Store:

• This Agreement is between you and Spirit Buddy LLC only, and not with Google LLC ("Google"). Spirit Buddy LLC, not Google, is solely responsible for the Service and its content.
• Your use of Gnosis through Google Play is also subject to the Google Play Terms of Service. In the event of any conflict between these Terms and the Google Play Terms of Service, these Terms govern your relationship with Spirit Buddy LLC for the Service.

15. Changes to These Terms

We may revise these Terms at any time by posting an updated version on this page. Changes take effect upon posting. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms.

16. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Delaware, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

17. Dispute Resolution; Arbitration; Class-Action Waiver

Any disputes arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Service shall first be attempted to be resolved through good-faith negotiation. If negotiation fails, disputes shall be resolved through binding arbitration administered by the American Arbitration Association (AAA) under its Consumer Arbitration Rules, conducted in English. The arbitrator's decision shall be final and binding.

Class-action waiver. To the fullest extent permitted by law, you and Spirit Buddy LLC agree that any dispute resolution proceedings will be conducted only on an individual basis and not as a class, consolidated, or representative action. Neither you nor Spirit Buddy LLC may serve as a class representative or class member in any class, consolidated, or representative proceeding.

Jury-trial waiver. To the fullest extent permitted by law, you and Spirit Buddy LLC each waive the right to a jury trial.

If the class-action waiver above is found unenforceable in a particular case, the entire arbitration agreement in this section shall be unenforceable for that case, and the dispute shall proceed in a court of competent jurisdiction.

18. Severability

If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.

19. Entire Agreement

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Spirit Buddy LLC regarding the Service.
