Chapter LVII. The Return from the Dispersion

1.And it came to pass after this that I saw another host of wagons, and men riding thereon, and coming on the winds from the east, and from the west to the south.

2.And the noise of their wagons was heard, and when this turmoil took place the holy ones from heaven remarked it, and the pillars of the earth were moved from their place, and the sound thereof was heard from the one end of heaven to the other, in one day.

3.And they shall all fall down and worship the Lord of Spirits. And this is the end of the second Parable.

Asked of Guide

Who are the riders arriving from east, west, and south in this vision?

The chapter shows a new host of wagons and men coming on the winds from east, west, and south; their arrival makes “the pillars of the earth” move and their noise is heard “from the one end of heaven to the other.” The scene functions as a triumphant procession whose effect is cosmic: it provokes the holy ones and culminates in universal worship of the “Lord of Spirits.”

Enoch does not give personal names for these riders here; he frames them as a divinely appointed army whose appearance completes the second Parable. For a similar motif of a triumphant divine retinue, compare Revelation, where heavenly hosts accompany final judgment and worldwide worship follows.
