Ode 2 is missing from every surviving manuscript and has never been reconstructed. We have the title-number but no text. The Syriac manuscript discovered by Rendel Harris in 1909 jumps from the end of Ode 1 to the beginning of Ode 3; the Coptic Pistis Sophia quotes five Odes but not this one; the Greek Bodmer XI papyrus discovered in 1959 covers Ode 11 but does not push back this far. The gap is itself worth noting — it tells you something about how the Odes survived. They were not canonized, and they were not copied indefinitely. They survived in a single late manuscript and a handful of citations, and Ode 2 fell out somewhere along that thin line.
